Our Story

The idea behind this advisory service began in 1998, when I first encountered a university data center and became fascinated by the systems that powered it. After graduating in Computer Engineering, I joined Kuwait Finance House, where I led efforts to modernize our data center infrastructure. Facing a fragmented vendor landscape, I saw a clear need for integrated, expert-driven solutions.

In 2003, I launched my first data center project through my father’s construction company, and by 2007, I founded Advanced Systems Group (ASG)—a company dedicated to designing and building high-performance data centers tailored to the GCC’s unique environment.
With capable team under my leadership, ASG grew rapidly, completing major projects across Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, and beyond. We didn’t just implement—we innovated, developing custom cooling systems with Coolex to withstand the region’s harsh climate and solving complex power and infrastructure challenges in high-risk and high-rise environments.

After ASG concluded its operational work in the wake of COVID-19, I created this platform to share over two decades of knowledge. With content in Arabic, English, and Chinese, my goal is to help others design better data centers, make informed decisions, and succeed where others struggle.

Initiation 01

Project Initiation: Understanding Before Engineering

At Advanced Systems Group (ASG), the data center company, the Project Initiation phase is a critical foundation for every successful engagement. This process begins with fully understanding our client—what they need, the challenges they face, the end results they expect, and the constraints they operate under, whether technical, financial, business-related, or regulatory. Our team of seasoned experts—specialized in building infrastructure, power systems, precision cooling, electromechanical design, and mission-critical data center standards—works closely with clients to gather all relevant business requirements before advancing to the technical analysis phase (GAP). The deliverable from the initiation phase is a business-focused report, not a technical one, highlighting the expected impact, budget range, business continuity implications, and overall value to the organization. This report lays the groundwork for the GAP phase, where we shift focus to detailed technical specifications. Throughout this process, our methodologies align with globally recognized data center standards such as the Uptime Institute’s Tier Standards, TIA-942, and ISO/IEC 22237 (formerly covered under ISO 37000 series in some references), ensuring our solutions are not only effective but also compliant with best practices in data center design and operations.

GAP Analysis  02

Strategic Sustainability Roadmap

contingent upon the completion of the Project Initiation Document, which outlines the client’s business needs, constraints, and high-level objectives.

During the Gap Analysis, our specialized engineering team conducts a thorough assessment of the current state of the facility against the desired end-state—as defined by client requirements and international data center standards. This involves detailed examination of:

  • Architectural layouts and building infrastructure

  • Electrical schematics and single-line diagrams

  • HVAC and electromechanical system designs

  • IT load projections, redundancy needs, and Tier-level targets

  • Environmental constraints and compliance factors

The outcome of this phase is a comprehensive technical blueprint a design document set that fully defines the solution architecture, including the power and cooling topology, rack layout, structured cabling pathways, and mechanical-electrical-plumbing (MEP) specifications.

All deliverables in this stage are theoretical and documented no physical implementation occurs. The purpose is to give the client a clear, high-resolution view of the proposed solution before any deployment begins. This transparency enables informed decision-making, accurate budgeting, and proactive risk mitigation.

Our team leverages internationally recognized data center standards such as the Uptime Institute Tier Classification, ANSI/TIA-942, and ISO/IEC 22237, while also tailoring designs to project-specific nuances—be it extreme climate conditions, legacy infrastructure constraints, or specialized operational needs.

Precision in the Gap Analysis phase is paramount. The implementation phase will strictly follow the plan outlined here, minimizing on-site changes, unexpected hurdles, or rework. Any deviation during execution is managed through a controlled change process, ensuring the project remains aligned with its original business and technical objectives.

By the end of the Gap phase, our clients receive not just a design, but a strategic implementation roadmap a trusted guide to building or upgrading a resilient, scalable, and standards-compliant data center.

Execution 03

Precision in Action

Execution Phase is where meticulous planning transforms into high-performance infrastructure. With the comprehensive blueprint from the Gap Analysis as our guide, implementation begins with confidence, clarity, and control. Every activity—from civil modifications to electromechanical installations and ICT integration—is executed in alignment with internationally recognized standards .

Our multidisciplinary technical team—experts in data center construction, power systems, precision cooling, structured cabling, fire suppression, and access control—ensures that every component is deployed exactly as designed. All vendors, subcontractors, and site engineers operate under a unified project management framework, ensuring seamless coordination, adherence to the timeline, and minimal deviation.

During execution, ASG emphasizes rigorous quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) at each milestone. Site inspections, factory acceptance tests (FAT), and system integration tests (SIT) are conducted to validate every element of the deployment. Should any unforeseen condition arise, our engineers are empowered to respond with agility while maintaining alignment with the original business goals and technical parameters.

The Execution Phase is not merely about building—it’s about delivering a resilient, scalable, and future-proof data center that meets your exact operational needs, environmental challenges, and strategic objectives. At ASG, we don't just construct data centers—we engineer mission-critical reliability.

  Delivery 04

Delivering Excellence

Delivery Phase at Advanced Systems Group (ASG) ensures that every component is tested, validated, and handed over with full operational readiness. Our expert team conducts rigorous subsystem testing, followed by comprehensive Integrated System Testing (IST), verifying that all critical systems—power, cooling, fire protection, access control, and network infrastructure—operate seamlessly both individually and as a cohesive whole.

Safety and performance checks at this stage are critical. We go beyond industry standards to ensure the data center not only meets but exceeds client expectations, delivering a facility that is robust, compliant, and ready for continuous operation under demanding conditions.

In this phase, the client receives the complete data center package—including all deployed systems, technical documentation, operational procedures, and compliance reports. More importantly, we equip the client's team with the necessary knowledge to operate, monitor, and maintain the facility through detailed on-site training and operational handover sessions.

ASG places a strong emphasis on Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and Return on Investment (ROI). Our goal is not just to build data centers—but to ensure our clients realize long-term value from them. Through efficient design, tailored systems, and empowered operations, we help clients extract maximum benefit, efficiency, and profitability from their data center investment.

 Support 05

Sustaining Operational Excellence

The Support Phase is a critical lifecycle stage where we ensure uninterrupted operations through proactive maintenance, real-time monitoring, and strategic foresight.

Our expert support team conducts scheduled preventive maintenance across all critical systems—including electrical infrastructure, precision cooling, UPS, fire suppression, and monitoring platforms. We analyze system logs, environmental data, and operational metrics to detect anomalies and resolve issues before they escalate, minimizing the risk of unplanned downtime.

Should any deviation from expected performance arise, our team immediately alerts the client and delivers corrective action plans tailored to restore full operational capacity. We treat both planned and unplanned outages with the same level of urgency and strive to reduce downtime to an absolute minimum, preserving business continuity and system availability at all times.

ASG’s support extends to both data centers we have designed and built, as well as those constructed by third parties. However, before accepting a maintenance engagement for an external site, we conduct a comprehensive infrastructure audit. This includes site inspections, documentation review, risk identification, and a readiness assessment to ensure we have full operational insight and the capability to uphold our service standards.

We also secure and manage critical spare parts, optimize turnaround times, and maintain readiness for seasonal or load-intensive periods. For example, ahead of the summer season, we proactively inspect and calibrate all cooling systems to operate at peak efficiency under elevated thermal loads. Our routine tests include:

  • Load testing of power systems and UPS units

  • Battery runtime verification and replacement cycles

  • Redundancy testing of N+1 and 2N configurations

  • Integrated failover simulations to validate system resiliency

Even when clients do not mandate the highest uptime targets, such as 99.999% availability (Five Nines), we treat every support contract with the same rigor—because we understand that any downtime can mean lost productivity, revenue, and trust.

From day one of the support engagement, ASG ensures that every aspect of the data center environment is monitored, maintained, and fortified, enabling our clients to operate with confidence and continuity.
